As I get ready for this holiday season, I think of what in my life I am grateful for. My family and friends are always the answer. That's why I think there is no better way to show my appreciation than to host a Friendsgiving!

As I get ready for this holiday season, I think about my life and what I am grateful for. The first thing that comes to mind: my family and my friends. Truthfully, my friends become my family so it's all relative (see what I did there!). In all seriousness, I love really do love Thanksgiving. It's a great time of year to stop and take inventory on your life and show to others that you are grateful for what you have. And well, in my opinion, there is no better way to show my appreciation than to host a Friendsgiving!
SPRAY IT
With a few of my favorite holiday accessories and some spray paint, I was able to create a really fun tablescape. I had a great time putting it together, mess and all! Everyone loves a good mess, right? I gathered pumpkins and some more natural elements, mixed them with gold + cooper spray paint and I just let the creativity flow. There is really no wrong way to do it. And working with the coopers and gold always create such a beautiful blend. Of course, I sprayed outside, and when I was finished, I ripped up the bag I sprayed on and doubled it as a great runner!
CHALK IT
Instead of doing your classic name card for seat assignments, I thought I'd chalk it instead. I found some leaf shaped chip board and saw a project. I painted it with a base coat of acrylic paint then hit the spray paint again. I used the amazing DecoArt clear chalkboard coating and turned them into small chalkboards. This way, you can continue to use them. I mean you're gonna throw another party, right?
COCKTAIL IT
I believe in the power of a good cocktail. Friends are who you can let your hair down with after all. But in addition to an amazing cocktail, like this one, you must enjoy it in style. So how I chose to prepare the glass was just as important as what went in it. With just twine and a leaf, look at how that drink stepped its game up!

PARTY INSPIRATION FOR A SPOOKY HOLIDAY NIGHT

Style Tip #1 — Set the Stage
Create not only a setting for the table but also designate a spot for drinks and appetizers to be served when guests first arrive. Whether it be an entry way, a hall, or a foyer, set the stage for an elegant evening with an immediate visual impact upon entry for your guests.
Style Tip #2 — Add low key DIY elements,
Like apples with spray painted gold tops, terrariums filled with seasonal florals or pumpkins, bowls overflowing with gourds and mini white glitter pumpkins. Then fill in the space with a beautifully stated floral centerpiece using jars and pitchers from the kitchen.
Style Tip #3– Small Details Count
From creating custom menus for your guests, to adding moss plate “chargers” under the plates, small details are a fun way to bring the dinner together to create a memorable event.

A GALENTINE'S DAY PARTY: Inspired by Parks and Recreation
This GALentines party shows just how fun, sweet and meaningful your long-lasting friendships are. Some of the greatest loves of your life are with your besties!
I got the idea of Galentine's Day from the show Parks and Recreation. I am a huge Amy Poehler fan and if you watch the show you know her character is so hilarious, driven to succeed, and loves her girlfriends! They throw a Galentine's day party on February 13th to celebrate and appreciate their ladyhood and friendships. The first time I saw it I knew I needed a Galentine's Day party one day. :)
This shoot was a really sweet and fun representation of how meaningful and long-lasting your friendships are. Some of the greatest loves of your life are with your besties. :)

An "Unmentionable" Birthday in Palm Springs
Leah, of Color Pop Events based in New York City, was planning her friend's "unmentionable" birthday and flying out with a few girlfriends for the weekend. Leah kept with the theme of her friend's fun and colorful personality by hosting the weekend at the Saguaro in Palm Springs, the most colorful hotel in the desert.
Leah, of Color Pop Events based in New York City, was planning her friend's "unmentionable" birthday and flying out with a few girlfriends for the weekend. When she reached out I was so excited to head out to the Saguaro to photograph their party. Leah kept with the theme of her friend's fun and colorful personality by hosting the weekend at the Saguaro in Palm Springs,the most colorful hotel in the desert. The hotel was amazingly accommodating and allowed us to set up our dinner party in its Tinto restaurant, which was closed at the time for renovations, so we pretty much had an entire restaurant all to ourselves. Leah's vendor friends Sincerely, Jackie designed the party invites and paper goods and Toasted Parties supplied all of the decor from the honeycombs to the party animals (my favorite!) to the silver glitter pineapple drink stirrers (because it's not a party without glitter!).

Here's what the team behind this shoot had to say about the shoot:
For our "Lonely Lovers Club" shoot, Witty Rentals wanted to create an intimate "friends gathering" with some light flirting in the mix and an easy going atmosphere. The choices for colors were marsala and burgundy to create a sexy and vibrant environment - paired with lots of industrial elements - to match the amazing venue with its super rad concrete walls and warehouse atmosphere.
With the micro brewery community being so hot in San Diego right now we decided to have the party take place at Booze Brothers Brewery in Vista. We teamed up with the Booze Brothers and paired their tasty beers with some gourmet finger foods by the amazing Mish Mash Gourmet.
Bloom Babes brought a sassy show stopper with a lush garland that hung above the food/beer table as well as the stunning centerpiece. We also set up a cozy lounge where folks could just chat and mingle. Lastly, we played the classic Casablanca film to spark some of that romance to create a "drive in" movie feel. Renata of Amazonas Photography was there to capture all the fun in a very natural and artistic approach.

CHRISTMAS CRAFT CHAOS
Each year for the last seven years there has been one of my favorite holiday parties in my calendar. There is something about getting together with your best gals and crafting away to bring some holiday cheer. Check out this year's Mother, daughter, sister, aunt, girlfriend Christmas Craft Party!
Each year for the last seven years there has been one of my favorite holiday parties in my calendar. I've flown and driven hundreds of miles to be there for it and it's one of my favorite memories to make each year. This year marked a milestone as the third generation of crafters joined for my mom Ana's Mother, daughter, sister, aunt, girlfriend Christmas Craft Party! It's a mouthful, I know. And each year the turn out gets bigger and bigger, this year we had over 35!
It's always been the little party that could. Defying the odds when in the 11th hour the cleaning and craft preparation is being finished (Shout out to Terri, Germaine, Karen, Aunt Susan, Kim, you know who you are you little elves)! But some how the party ALWAYS happens and some years it's nothing short of a Christmas miracle! One year it fought against a power outage from a storm in Northern California and in my mom's true fashion, a generator was plugged in since the party must go on!
Each year brings new faces and new craft stations. Each station is a different holiday project from calendars to body scrubs, ornament making to cupcakes to go. But each year two stations remain, the gift tag station and my station..... the mimosa station! And one rule stays, no boys allowed! Guests bring their favorite treat to share and of course there's a good old gift exchange. We've done exchanges for holiday aprons and holiday towels. And let me tell you, some years the battle gets pretty intense.
I share this with you because a little idea my mom had years ago has now turned into one of the best times around the holidays. And I encourage you to throw one yourself! Yes, it's a huge undertaking, but there is something about getting together with your best gals and crafting away to bring some holiday cheer. Check out some of the fun we had this year and consider throwing one of these next year. It's never too late to build your own tradition with the best girls in your life!

GINGERBREAD HOUSE PARTY
With the holidays just around the corner, I’m so excited to begin celebrating the most festive time of the year! Although it can be a hectic time, I always make sure to kick it off with a fun get-together with my girlfriends. This year, I wanted us to tap into our creative spirits with a DIY Gingerbread House party!

With the holidays just around the corner, I’m so excited to begin celebrating the most festive time of the year! Although it can be a hectic time, I always make sure to kick it off with a fun get-together with my girlfriends.
This year, I wanted us to tap into our creative spirits with a DIY Gingerbread House party! Of course, not your ordinary Gingerbread Houses because what’s a house without a little bit of sparkle and shine. For my table setup, I kept with traditional Christmas colors of red, green and white and added touches of gold throughout.
To save time, I used pre-cut Gingerbread House kits, but the first thing I did was toss those boring candy decorations that are included in the kits and replaced it with more modern decorations – washi tape, gift tags, glitter and confetti. It’s less messy and if you’re like me, you probably have all of these essentials stored from Christmas' past.
To finish my table setup, I once again turned to Oh Joy! and her UH-amazing holiday line at Target! Her fun mix-and-match holiday prints with gold accents were incorporated into her entire collection of plates, goblets, lanterns and paper fans making holiday decorating easy and stress-free! Target also scored a huge holiday win with their reasonably priced holiday décor so I was able to get everything I needed in a single shopping trip. I picked up Bottle Brush Tabletop Christmas trees in a variety of sizes and colors (on sale now), a burlap banner, a chalkboard sign and more gingerbread house decorations.
With many stores already stocking their shelves with holiday decorations, it’s the perfect time to start gathering pieces to create your own DIY Gingerbread House party.

A HOT CHOCOLATE BAR PARTY
When the air starts getting crisp and the leaves begin changing colors, I get a bit nostalgia for steaming cups of hot chocolate in front of the fireplace! But now, theres so much more to hotel chocolate than milk + cocoa!
When the air starts getting crisp and the leaves begin changing colors, I get a bit nostalgic for steaming cups of hot chocolate in front of the fireplace. But now, there’s so much more to hot chocolate than warm milk and cocoa powder. So, armed with my favorite Oh Joy! party pieces, I’ve put together a simple and rustic hot chocolate bar as the perfect ending for any party!
Oh Joy! is my favorite lifestyle blogger whose Fall collection for Target continues to bring a huge smile to my face and queues up my “happy dance!” Her color palette of gold and metallic sprinkled with vibrant jewel tones provide the perfect backdrop for the season (and bonus tip: these pieces can be re-used for a New Years Eve celebration as well!). A Very Un-Bridal Shower
It’s not everyday you get to have a bridal shower so we were extremely grateful when Bay Area Bride, Liana, let us take a peek inside her one-of-a-kind bridal shower… A very Un-Bridal shower to be exact.
It’s not everyday you get to have a bridal shower. So when Bay Area bride Liana let us inside her one of a kind bridal shower, we were extremely grateful! It wasn't just any shower… It was a very Un-Bridal shower to be exact. As a child, Alice in Wonderland was one of her favorite stories. So when Liana found the man she gets to write her happily ever after with, it seemed all to perfect to stick with the storybook theme. And while Alice in Wonderland might not be a romantic love story, it’s certainly a story about self-discovery and adventure. And isn’t that what every love story is?
Take a peak at the one of a kind décor put together by family and friends to honor this bride to be as we take a journey down the rabbit hole!
Mad Tea Party
A fabulous tea party sets the ambiance for this one of a kind shower. And what’s a tea party without teacups? Each table was decorated with a variety of teacups and teapots to echo the shower theme. With fresh roses and moss runners, tables were accessorized with small touches of storybook Alice and Wonderland. Complete with teacup towers and 3D pop ups right out of the books!
Treats
What’s a tea party without tasty little treats? Macaroons, tea sandwiches and scones were among some of the treats served to guests. No detail was left out when selecting the perfect array of delicacies for guests. Scones to accompany the tea would be too boring so to spice things up they were shaped with the bride and grooms initials! All the way down to the tomato rose atop the sandwiches, guests were reminded of the story of Alice and Wonderland. As the queen would say….Off with her head!
Mad Hatter
Tired of the same old bridal shower games? Fear not, this is an un-bridal shower after all. Guests were encouraged to “dress properly” and had the chance to make their own mad hatter hat! Cause what’s a tea party with out all the accessories, right? To achieve the mad hatter bar, hats we pre-adhered to headbands so all guests had to do was decorate. With different colors and fabrics to choose from, no two hats were the same!
Drink Me
Who needs another boring party favor? At this party, guests walked away with something they could use and had a chance to make. A Tea Bar was the setting for guests to make their own favor. Your own love brew if you will! This not only provided a talking point for guests getting to know each other, but another activity in-lieu of the traditional shower games.
Storybook Perfect
These hosts thought of everything. Playing cards were used through out the party as added décor. Even serving as the backdrop for the bridal shower banner. And of course, an Alice and Wonderland apron for the beautiful bride to be. Storybook perfect if you ask us!
We know after seeing this un-bridal shower, we’ll never think of tea parties the same again! We hope this inspired you to throw your own version of a mad hatter tea party. Be sure to share your own version using #estcalifornia. And cheers to the bride to be!

PUMPKIN CARVING BASH
With Halloween creeping up on us, what better way to celebrate than with a classic pumpkin carving party? But, that’s where the “classic” ends and the “sparkle” begins! This year, I decided to mix up the usual Halloween colors with some gold, polka dots and glitter (of course!!)

With Halloween creeping up on us, what better way to celebrate than with a classic pumpkin carving party? But, that’s where the “classic” ends and the “sparkle” begins! This year, I decided to mix up the usual Halloween colors with some gold, polka dots and glitter (of course!!)
First, I picked up some jack-o-lantern pails at the 99cent Store and sprayed some gold to use as my centerpieces. I also bought mini pumpkins and glittered them with Martha Stewart’s tinsel glitter and glue.
Getting flowers to match my Halloween color scheme was a piece of cake since there are so many varieties of orange and white flowers. I chose Carnations because they hold up nicely and I love their vibrant orange color. While Baby’s Breath would have been a great white flower to pair with my Carnations, I decided to use white Button Poms instead for its shape and texture.
Next on my list…candy corns (check), black tablecloth (check), black striped straws (check) and orange polka dot wrapping paper (check) to use as my table runner. All these items were super easy to find since every store screams Halloween from the moment you walk in! Nowadays, you don’t have to search online for cute decorations because they’re available everywhere – from Target, to Michaels, and even Party City!
I’ve been obsessed with Studio DIY’s Hanging Spider Balloon creation, especially the gold glitter spiders. Instead of buying pre-made spiders, I created my own using black construction paper and glue…so simple! Next, decoupage the bodies in gold glitter, add your guests’ names to each spider with a gold marker and attach the spiders to balloons. This will create a festive backdrop for the party. Guests will love the personalized touch and feel special as soon as they enter the room. Another option would be to place the balloons and spiders behind or above each seat and use them as place cards so guests will know where to sit.
Balloons make any party feel fun and festive so of course I stocked up on balloons – solid colors, big polka dots, mini polka dots – and reused my Geronimo Balloon Tassels to create a garland and voila – an instant “spooky” photo booth backdrop for my friends to show off their carved pumpkins! So even though it’s Halloween, don’t forget to always leave some sparkle!

Girls just wanna have fun, right? Well Jordan Jones at Packed Party is proving that to be true. A transplant from Texas, this free spirit moved to California seeking adventure and embarking on a new job. But in making the move to the golden state, Jordan found herself without her friends, with little to no social calendar and ultimately fired from her job for pursing an idea she was passionate about, Packed Party.
It was just under one year ago she decided to throw caution to wind, took a true leap of faith and started Packed Party. As a teenager Jordan had experienced mean girls in high school, but never allowed that to get her down. She would commonly throw a ‘party for one’ and now in her early adult years, alone in San Francisco, that party for one had found its way back to her. Feeling down on herself and throwing what we are all guilty of having every once in awhile, a pity party, Jordan got a bright idea. Wouldn’t it be great to send a packaged party to friends when life’s moments get them down, or up!
Sure she may have been in the land of entrepreneurs and start-ups mere miles from the Silicon Valley, but she was just a regular Texan girl chasing a California dream.
After convincing her family to invest in her idea she grew her company from packing parties in her garage to a warehouse shipping internationally. She took a little idea and grew it into something great. Believing in her creativity and feeling established in her sense of self, suddenly Jordan was building a business and surviving on her own.

We had a chance to talk with Jordan about all things Packed Party and how she purses her own golden state of mind. Here's what she had to say:
Leaving your job to pursue this venture must have been a scary decision. When did you know taking the leap of faith was right?
I think it’s hard to know a good time to ever really take the leap to pursue what you love full-time. There’s always going to be major risk involved and I was in the process of weighing out the risk when I was sort of pushed out of my job in Silicon Valley for actually working on Packed Party.
Today I get it of course, and know it was the best thing that ever happened to me, but at the time I was a little mortified. I had never so much as been sent to the hall in elementary school for getting in trouble, so it came as a bit of a shock to me when they said I had to choose between working there or running Packed Party. As it turns out though, as embarrassing and scary as it was being let go of for pursuing my dream, they made the best decision for me and the whole experience gave me the major push I needed to pursue Packed Party full-time. Immediately after I created our blog, added new packages to our line, and gave that extra time I was giving to someone else’s dream to my own.
What keeps you inspired?
Living in San Francisco makes it easy to be inspired to be totally honest. I try to go on a walk every single day at some point and take a different path. The colors on the houses around the neighborhood, hearing the buzz around the city, and hearing people’s stories of starting businesses pushes me. I read a lot of magazines, blogs, and am on sites like Pinterest daily. I feel like I really resonate with stories like Sophia Amoruso’s Girl Boss, I read it in two days and felt so personally connected to how she started, all the sacrifices she made, having her mom help her, and saying “we” when it was just her in the beginning…guilty as charged here for doing it too.
What advice would you give to your 16-year-old self?
I think I’d tell myself chin up, it’s only getting better from here, high school is just a small snippet of your life. Oh, and also, you’re never going to use the math you’re worrying over right now! Numbers aren’t my strong suit.
What brought you to California?
Truthfully? I just loved it here. I had only visited California a few times, and San Francisco one time before deciding I had to move here. My parents, of course were in shock when I told them it was what I was going to do, but they agreed and said if you have a job you can give it a shot. Sure enough I found a job at a startup doing events, and was on my way with a U-Haul behind my car a few short months later leaving all my closest friends and family behind in Dallas. I didn’t leave because I didn’t like Dallas, I just felt like there was something more for me waiting in San Francisco, and little did I know that it was Packed Party.
Favorite Sunday Brunch Spot?
Is it cliché to say my favorite meal is brunch? Probably. But I love Zazie’s here in the city, it’s in Cole Valley, and the people that own it are so nice, they recognize me every time I come in (or at least pretend to!). I love southern hospitality and homemade food, so this place combines both.
Favorite type of party to have?
In life? Probably a dinner party. I don’t have them much here in San Francisco because my space is a touch tiny (I call it the Polly Pocket apartment), but definitely a dinner party! Having people over and planning everything from the flowers to the music and place settings is something I learned from my mom and share a love with her over.
What is your current party playlist?
I love music, I always have! I listen to a lot of rap. Kidding. I like a mix of everything though! Mat Kearney is always a go-to for me; his music just feels like home sort of no matter what I’m doing I can throw it on. Listen to “Closer To Love” by him and try not to tap your toe. I’m also really into Broods right now, they’re so young and their music is amazing!
What do you love most about your job?
That’s a really difficult question. There’s nothing I don’t love about it, so I should probably start by saying that. Packed Party doesn’t feel like work because it is truly the most fun thing I’ve ever done. Every day is something different and I love that about it because I’m such a creative person it’s hard for me to do the same thing over and over again. I love laying out the photo shoots, writing the blog, meeting so many new people, and being introduced to new and unique products. I created my dream job for myself, so I can’t say there’s anything I don’t love about it.

An "I Do" Barbeque
Most women begin dreaming about their wedding day as little girls. I wasn’t too much into that. I never dreamt much about my own wedding. But after moving to Los Angeles, I suddenly found myself planning TV weddings.
Most women begin dreaming about their wedding day as little girls. I wasn’t too much into that. I never dreamt much about my own wedding. But after graduating college and moving to Los Angeles to pursue my dreams of working in the entertainment industry, I suddenly found myself planning weddings all the time… for television. It somehow had become second nature to me. Between weddings on various TV shows and friends lining up around the block planning their own, I suddenly became the aficionado of all things old, borrowed and blue.
When Sam, my fiancé, proposed I was shell-shocked. I couldn’t believe after all this time of planning weddings it was actually my turn. I knew I wanted to take my time in the planning process, so it didn’t feel like work, but my mom insisted on throwing us an engagement party immediately to celebrate. If I’m being honest, I started to sweat. As a certified control freak, giving over full control was not easy. But I knew this was only the start of allowing others to plan for me. A role reversal I was not used to.
When our invitation to the party arrived, I was floored. An “I DO" BBQ was the theme and it couldn‘t have been more perfect. Understated, intimate but still a celebration. When the actual party arrived, I couldn’t believe the attention to detail. Now, don’t get me wrong, my mom has always been an amazing party planner. But something about this party was different.
Everywhere I looked, she had taken the time to be sure mine and Sam’s story was at the forefront. In walking up to the house, there was a framed picture of Sam proposing to me. In the very spot it had taken place with an arrow reading: “It happened here!” I would have never thought to do that.
Floral arrangements filled with fresh, bright summer colors were placed on every table adorned with our initials, black and gold accents. Not to mention, floral chandeliers with roses dripping from above. Bistro lights strung across the backyard illuminating each detail. Mason jars with our initials were used for fresh lemonade, with an optional vodka accessory, and doubled as the glassware for our dessert, root beer floats. But before dessert, there was the hotdog bar…. An over the top hotdog bar. Optional recipes were displayed to help guide guests in their creations. Even a rendition of the famous ‘Skyline Chili’ had been made as homage to Sam’s home state of Ohio.
Down to the utensil pouches, our initials were present. There was not a detail left un-thought of. Skyline beer cozies lined the table next to the wheelbarrow full of bottleneck beverages as a reminder of Sam’s love of Ohio, and first job! Salt-water taffy from a favorite stop of mine growing up, Marinis in Santa Cruz, accompanied each table’s floral display.
As the sun set and we cheers’d with loved ones and family, out came the sparkles! A favorite pastime of both Sam and mine as kids, “Let love Sparkle” with our initials decorated each sparkler. I was truly blown away at the feature. My mom had thought of everything and I couldn’t hide my excitement to marry the man of my dreams. I hope that this has given you some great ideas to throw your own I Do BBQ. I wish I could take credit, but I was merely the guest of honor. And to think, this was only the engagement party!

When it comes to home décor, attention to detail is everything. A good room can be turned great with a few extra touches. When I walk into a room for the first time, I love to take it all in.

I look to see what kind of art is on the walls, who is in that picture frame, how the table is set, what is the underlying color scheme. I tell you, attention to detail is never wasted on this houseguest! I love rooms that tell a story and show the personality of the people living there. So when I got a look at the placemats and new print collection from Scarlet & Gold I couldn’t wait to figure out how to include it in my home.

I love including little words of encouragement around the house and this new line does just that, encourage. Summer is upon us and I couldn’t be more thrilled. The sun is out, flamingos and pineapples seem to be everywhere I look. There are moments where I think I live all year long just for the summer months. There is nothing more I love in life than getting my friends and family together and just enjoying each other’s company. The summer months seem to just invite us out to enjoy that time together.
As someone who grew up with parents who loved to host their friends, playing hostess is something that’s in my blood. My dad always adopted the more the merrier mantra and my mom, an avid crafter, was always ready to throw together an event and leave everyone talking. My parents raised my siblings and I to know the importance of friends and family around. So once summer hits, its party time in my world.
While I LOVE hosting parties, even if it’s as simple as having everyone over for game night, I have a relentless need to organize and present. But it can get expensive always being the hostess. Now, I don’t want it to sound like a have cheap friends, everyone contributes. But different parties require different accessories and presentation. It’s the party rules…I didn’t make em!
So to kick off summer right, I thought, BBQ! And to keep the dollar down, I decided to challenge myself. A 99¢ Summer BBQ. Now, I don’t want to be misleading…. I didn’t pay 99¢ for this entire BBQ. But I visited the dollar section at Target, the 99¢ Store & the dollar tree… to find my key pieces to get everyone in the summer spirit. I was really excited with what I found and it left me thinking…why didn’t I do this sooner?!

As a native Californian, I have been spoiled my whole life with AWESOME Mexican food. And, as any good California girl will tell you, nothing makes your heart tick like chips, salsa and a tequila shot. So as I prepared for Caroline’s final night as a single woman, I thought to myself: what's the best way to send my girlfriend off into wifehood? The only way I knew how: Caroline’s Final Fiesta.

Here are some of my favorite details and advice for a successful Fiesta:
Break the ice!
Have an assortment of beverages to offer your guests the second they walk in the door. This sets the tone for a fun evening and makes it clear to your guests they should feel comfortable. Remember to be mindful that not everyone is a drinker, so you should be able to offer a non-alcoholic drink. Don’t forget to take pride in your drink station; this is one of the best areas to decorate!
Stay Hydrated
I also kept in mind we were in for a long night. It's so important to stay hydrated when you are consuming alcohol (especially in a warm place like Mexico). But a boring bottle of water just wasn’t enough. I offered a fun alternative to the bottle by customizing labels that matched the other printed materials. Tossed a little sombrero on each of those bad boys and they looked like they came to party!
Mix-It-Up!
For our sit down dinner, intermixing the guests was the best way to go. But how does one ensure guests sit with a stranger while sending a strong party message to all…..Tequila shot placecards baby! Not only does this serve as your place card for dinner, it sends a strong message to your guests. We came to CELEBRATE this girl’s last night with out a husband!!! And the best part is, this doubles as your party favor. This isn’t your mother’s party favor hunny. No one is throwing this out…only throwing it back!
Clever Serveware
I knew the food was going to be easy. A tasty Mexican spread was the way to go. But making minor adjustments to the standard buffet set up was a fun way to get conversations started. For instance, don’t just serve your tortilla soup in a bowl, put it in a shot glass. It’s a reminder we came to party!
Goodies
Of course there are always the games at a Bachelorette party. So put a fiesta spin on em! Have a piñata!! You’re never too old! (I’ve left the photo out of our piñata as it wasn’t the most.. shall we say.. appropriate) But what good is a piñata if you don’t have bags for all your goodies? For these I made labels with the same design as the water bottle labels and prize bags. A simple copy and paste, just a different template.
Don't Forget the Keepsakes!
I also wanted to be sure our bride walked away with a good reminder of the fun night we had. So I had all the girls kiss a photo matte and sign their name next to it. We took a group photo for our bride to place in her frame. Kiss that maiden name goodbye!
So get creative with your decorations for your fiesta! Send a message to your guests that a good time is in order and tie it through out your theme. Then let the margaritas flow, tequila will take care of the rest!

Everyone loves a good party. And no one loves one more than me. Decorations at a party are one of my favorite things to see upon arrival because each party is so unique.

There are so many ways to decorate, themes to choose from and places you can take your vision. But somehow, when planning my overall vision for a party or get together, I always find my way back to my party planning roots. I like to think there are certain décor elements that are the foundation of putting together a party. One of those items for me is a banner….. yes, a good old fashion banner. It’s a great way to send the message of the party. I know what your thinking, of course in a literal sense, it says happy birthday! But a banner is so much more than that.
There are so many great ways to build a banner for your party. It can be clear, simple and classic or it can be far more detailed. You can go as far as using the banner as a place to tie together your printed materials used through out the party. I think of a banner like the summary of a story. It’s a great way to tie together all the different elements you have been working on and give a clear visual of the common theme. It’s like that moment when the skies open and the heavens sing, and you see a clear vision. Ok, Ok, that might seem a bit far-fetched for a banner, but you get the idea.
Below are a few different ways you can use banners to take your party to the next level. You can go the traditional route or the detailed route. You can even recycle old banners to make it easier…. The choice is yours!

If your summers are anything like mine, as the host of the pool, there is a certain sense of spontaneity that goes with the title. Friends will be the best friends you’ve have during summer months. You know, since its 100 degrees outside, suddenly you are everyone’s favorite person!
As queen of the pool party, you must be ready to host at any given moment. Any good pool party host/ess will tell you there are a few key items you must always have on hand. This makes it more enjoyable for you as the host and in turn, your guests.
My 3 easy steps to a seamless little fun in the sun afternoon pool party with your fav homies below!
1. extra floaties
Always have extra pool floaties on hand! You don’t have to spend a ton on them either. I buy one two pack and it will last the entire summer season. Its cheaper in bulk anyway so save yourself the headache and stock up. You never now when something can pop, so be prepared!
2. healthy options
Be sure to give your guests good healthy options. All that sun can really take it out of you so make sure you are stocked up on healthy snacks that will help you feel good and produce energy for all that splashing. It doesn’t hurt to display them well while your at it, so grab your set of mixing bowls and embrace the color, its summer after all!

While I understand I just said to have healthy options, its ok to sneak a little treat. So have a little cocktail during your fun in the sun. You don’t have to mix it with a bunch of artificial sweetener keep it healthy and simple like this fresh grapefruit margarita. And of course be sure to get some water in there too. So, Cheers!
