When I first approached Amina Mucciolo of Studio Mucci about a feature on our site, I knew it would be a fun and exciting piece to bring our readers. After all, she's a true creative mind and I was excited to show some love. But what I took away from her was so much more than I could have expected. As I went through her answers to some of the questions I asked, glaring back at me was a challenge. Boy did she have my attention. When we asked about advice for young entrepreneurs she gave the most powerful response, "Never underestimate the value of being authentic!" Ya, go ahead and sit with that for a minute.
Amina and Studio Mucci are challenging us all to live authentically. And that my friends couldn't be any bigger of a challenge. It's something we strive to achieve at Established California and Studio Mucci couldn't illustrate it any better. Ironically enough, Amina had so perfectly summarized what it means to be a Californian: authentic. See, everything about Studio Mucci and Amina is authentic. From their approach to products, Amina's purple dreadlocks or ability to be vulnerable with fans, everything is original. They are doing their thing and living their lives and I am loving every second of it. I mean talk about leading by example.

Was there a defining moment you knew you wanted to create Studio Mucci?
Even though Studio Mucci happened somewhat organically over time, it started as a culmination of my hobbies and creative interests. The defining moment that took my hobbies to business was when I discovered my ideas were valuable. I had a few ideas early on that I never acted on, only to see them come to life at the hands others.
What's your favorite product you have created?
When we first started, a lot of the things we created were custom items that we designed to fit the needs of other for various events or parties. The pastel rainbow product line was one of my first original designs where I allowed myself the freedom to make whatever I wanted. That process really helped me to connect with a childlike sense of wonder, which is something that continually inspires my work.
What else keeps you inspired?
Exploring new things, life....Inspiration is tricky because its my job to stay inspired. It's a practice to find inspiration in even the smallest things.
What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs looking to follow the creative and sometimes unpaved path?
Whatever you may have imagined, expect that it will be far more difficult that that! Accept that there will be doubt, frustration, and times that you really want to quit. But ultimately you really have to love whatever it is that you're doing. Also, never underestimate the value of being authentic.
What do you love most about being a Californian?
I definitely think that the way I see myself and the world would be so different if I were from anywhere else. California is one of the most progressive and free places in the world. Much of my lightness comes from being raised here. This place definitely creates dreamers since we're surrounded by so much beauty and inspiration, which I believes outweighs things like poverty and despair. There's just this spirit that you can overcome anything.
Being raised in California has really contributed to my spirit of resilience and it's one of the things I love most about myself. I've never appreciated being a Californian so much until I had the opportunity to live and visit other places.
We got to know so much more about Amina that helped us to appreciate her creative and out of the box ideas. Like the fact that she loves the TV show Monk, her favorite part of the day is when she first wakes up and she LOVES Alpacas! But our favorite fun fact was her favorite quality about herself, her resilience. See much of what makes Amina and Studio Mucci so amazing, is they strive to encourage everyone to embrace creativity and themselves. Or as they put it: Just be your f*cking self.™ I'll leave you with this last question we posed that made us really fall in love with Studio Mucci.
What does self acceptance mean to you?
It means that you are enough right now, with out the validation or approval of anyone else. I think we need to give ourselves the permission to love who we are right now in this moment. I mean, self improvement and progress are both really important and necessary......But what if you change who you are and its still not enough?
