American singer-songwriter, Lizzy Grant, better known by her stage name, Lana Del Rey is due to release her third studio album, Ultraviolence, tomorrow, June 17th. The sequel to her last album “Born to Die”, Del Rey continues her persona as the “gangster Nancy Sinatra”. Her first single, “West Coast” has caught our attention (and not just because it’s about our Golden State).
Lana Del Rey "West Coast" Video
Lana Del Rey caught the attention of everyone back in 2012 - the new girl on the block, singing about misguided relationships and about being the bad girl. Heavily influenced by the music of the 1950s and 1960s, she incorporates them into her cinematic sound and draws influences from masters of the genre such as Elvis Presley, Janis Joplin, and Amy Winehouse. Now, with Ultraviolence, Del Rey teams up with Black Keys producer, Dan Auerbach, to bring a more stripped down version of who she is.
While she recently played at the Palace of Versailles for the pre-ceremony of the Kim Kardashian and Kayne West wedding, Del Rey has been touring around Europe and played a show here in Los Angeles just a few weeks ago. With a powerful and soulful voice, Lana has made a name for herself. Check out her new album for yourself and let us know what you think.
