Nestled upstairs in a shopping center off of Ventura Blvd in Tarzana, you will find an indoor cycling studio that makes you forget you are actually working out and feels more like a dance party. Beatbike is the vision of Co-Founder and COO, Ashton Whited, to create a space that resembled a sanctuary for their riders and guests. Having opened in January of 2013, Beatbike has been making a strong name for itself ever since and proven to be a force not to be reckoned with.
“Beatbike is all about the music. Each instructor carefully designs their class around a new playlist that allows riders to get lost in the music and ride the sound.” Studio Manager and Instructor, Samantha Weinberg tells us. “Our doors are always open. Riders are welcome to use our space to chill out, work, socialize, have a juice or take a class whenever they want.”
“Ashton took my class at another cycling studio last November. She shared the concept with me and offered me a position to teach a few classes a week. My role at Beatbike has been an evolution and an amazing experience that I could not be more thankful for. Being the studio manager has been such an amazing learning experience and the operations at Beatbike have become my passion.”
I, personally, got to take Samantha’s class while I was at Beatbike and from the moment you walk into the cycling amphitheater, you feel the energy of all the riders. The instructors and staff are so helpful and got me set up on my bike right away. Doors closed and off we went on a high-energy ride that pushed me mentally and physically and left me walking away feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.
One thing I didn’t know about, prior to taking a cycling class, is that there are different hand positions and stances when you are on the bike. If you can’t make it to Beatbike, check out your local gym and try a cycling class. Fill your iPod with a high cardio mix (check out this month’s estCA playlist here) and get sweating!
